SIGNS OF SPRING

Last weekend, Spring became official for me.

I bought my first pair of sandals.

First sale to be rung up was this cute pair of strappy black Aldo sandals. LOVE THEM!!!!

Then there was this pair of just for fun flipflops with sparklies all over them. OH. Something shiny!

And tomorrow, UPS will be delivering these red shoes that I bought from Zappos.com. I had never heard of them until my daughter told me that one of her professors orders from them all the time. Shoe shopping by internet.

America! What a country!!!

Ordering shoes via the internet is the only way to go! Nordstrom loves me and I have ordered a couple of pairs from Zappos and have been very happy with the results.

BTW, your new shoes are lovely. The red ones are pretty darn sexy! Unfortunately for my hubby, sexy shoes hurt me too much to be any fun.

I could never shop for shoes over the internet.

Of course, that's because I value comfort over looks, and I spend lots of time trying on different shoes (and sometimes multiple sizes) to see which fits my feet the best.

Women and shoes - what can I say?

(*walks away shaking head sadly in total incomprehension*)

I have to try on shoes, can't buy them without making sure they fit and feel good. And then when I get them home, they have miraculously transformed into pinching, biting monsters that want to chew my feet to pieces. But still, I can't stop getting new pairs, because I MIGHT find the right pair that looks good AND feels good. (And is cheap. I'm afraid I buy cheap shoes.)

That's why they hurt neo.:)
But that's not true. When I first became a lawyer I went to Nordstrom and bought a pair of Ferragamos. Need I say more? I didn't think so. They only had a mid heel and an open toe so I don't know what the problem was but they were the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever bought. I took them back to Nordstrom 3 times, not to return them but for them to try to do something so I could wear them. After the 3rd time the guy just said, there's nothing more we can do. We'll take them back if you want. But they were my FIRST expensive lawyer shoes so I couldn't do that. I wore them occasionally but it never got better.
But I was always glad I had them. :)

sly, you done good! They're all great looking!

And you think this is good, El? Trust me, no man would ever do that. And for once, the man is right. That's crazy behavior.

And I looked at them a lot too, and they were a symbol of successfully completing law school and passing the bar.
Of course neo understands. Eventually I gave them to my daughter. They're uncomfortable for her too but she wears them sometimes. They're Ferragamos, for cryin' out loud!! Duh!

Double what Jeff said.

Whew! After reading about the shoes and looking at the photos, I checked and my balls are still there. Dodged that bullet!

el, I side with you. Young professional women need expensive accessories to make up for the two cheap suits they own.

I fondly remember my first expensive work shoes, too. And my first expensive handbag & briefcase. They made me feel so grown up and confident.

You can't possibly walk in those red ones. New shoe time for me is when they come off by themselves.
Mostly I'm happy if I get them on the right foot. Or left.

I am so tired tonight. How did I miss the opportunity for a hammer joke?

I wore the red shoes Saturday night and walked just fine.

So far, nothing's gotten nailed with them, though.

(hoo boy, I'm gonna hear from my daughter about that one)

No comment. No, wait. No, no comment.

El: "Ferragamos". That's a type of Italian car, right? Why were you car shopping in a shoe store? And why did you need a pair of cars?

*is puzzled*

Sly: I'm with tramp on this one, you must just have imagined that you can walk in those shoes.

On reflection, though, imagining they are comfortable is not surprising I suppose.

On the face of it there is a fundamental part of every girl that values appearance over sanity - witness shoes and leg waxing to mention but two. Why not a modified nervous system that supresses "glamour pain"?

*ducks and runs FAR away*

OK guys. When was the last time you guys went "boing" at the sight of a hair-legged woman in clunky shoes?

Okay. I love shoes. I'll pay $135 for a good pair that feels good. I buy sandals that I'll rarely rarely wear just because they're so cute (of course, I don't pay that much for those shoes). I live in Birkinstocks and I'm waiting for the day when they finally make a really cute pair of dressy shoes that really feel good.

Tramp said...

We do not go boing.

That often.

wysiwyg said...

I don't think its "boing", so much as "perk".

But I take your point.

And note that I didn't say it was a BAD thing girls are they way they are.

Its just that, if guys were girls, I think we'd just start wearing really long, low cut dresses rather than deal with waxing and running this risk of crippling ourselves.

Luckily, for reasons that make NO sense whatsoever, given the value girls place on appearance, hairy legs and bare feet are apparently attractive on a guy.

Anyway, I once again think God for the "little difference" that separates guys from girls.

*snicker*

Here are some other examples of differences between men and women.

I was just coming over to brag about finally getting twenty comments on a post and you get twenty three.

Nuts, I just made it twenty four.
