RAMBLING OBSERVATIONS

RAMBLING OBSERVATION 1

I found out why my purse has those obnoxioussticking-in-the-air handles. As I was on the bus this morning, I noticed the stitching on one of the handles is coming lose and I could see SPRINGS in there. I pulled the handle down a little bit, activating the spring and the handled whapped back into it's proper place.

And yes, I was SHOCKED! SHOCKED I tell you that a knock-off designer Gucci purse bought from street venders in Battery Park, NYC had such shabby workmanship. There's just no pride in knock-off workmanship these days.

RAMBLING OBSERVATION 2

The knitting bug has hit the bus. We now have four women who are knitting in the mornings. I sit with them in the front on the seats that face the aisle. I would prefer not to, but by the time I get on, those are the only seats available. This morning, after being whapped on the nose by my purse handle after inspecting the SHABBY workmanship and the spring, I realized that if the bus were to suddenly veer out of control, I was in danger of a severe stabbing from those knitting needles.

RAMBLING OBSERVATION 3

My lunch hour is too short to compose an entire post on here. I'll be back to update.

wasn't there an episode of CSI where a woman passed out and landed on a pair of knitting needles that were poking out of someone's knitting bag? I tend to think about that when I've left my needles lying about my room.

Your knock-off purse has a spring? Whoa, that's light years better constructed than mine.

And just what is the big deal about knitting? I tried it years ago and I'd rather bathe a cat.

I've never been able to knit. My daughter says she wants to..but I don't believe her. I think she just wants an extra extra long Dr. Who type scarf...

I did start crocheting an afghan soon after she was born...it's not done yet.

13 years later...

I've done the knitting thing, many many years ago. I am now totally immune to the knitting bug. I'd rather read.

Sly: hahahahaha on the knock-off purse thing. It makes me think of those guys with the giant black garbage bags you have to chase down the street to buy them from.

Good times.

Someone once showed me how to knit but there are so many other things that are more fun.

Plus I'm a guy.

um, I have ADD so crocheting is really good for me. It gives my hands something to do, a way to expell that excess energy, but leaves my mind and eyes to focus (better than they would otherwise) on other things. It can be helpful when I'm watching a really long movie, or when I'm trying to listen to talks or conferences online, on TV, or on the radio. I have made some truly horrible afghans.

Sarah J, we must have been separated at birth! I knit for the same reason. I can't stand to just sit and watch tv, and sitting in a movie theater is agony. My knitting goes with me everywhere.

But if I were knitting on a bus (and I did on the way to and from the Biltmore, but that wasn't your typical bus ride), I'd be very careful to keep my needles away from you.
